A collection of five butterflies, handcut from maps of the Amazon.
Blue Green Reflector, Gold Drop Helicopis, Malachite, Purple Mort Bleu, and the vibrant blue Brazilian Morpho, which was used in Victorian times to create jewellery.
The Amazon is the region with the highest diversity of butterfly species on the planet. there are so many that some species will become extinct before humans work out what food plants they require.
This box is 30cm wide, 20cm high and 6cm deep. It is a black leatherette clamshell style entomology 'museum box'. the lining is inert Plastazote.
